Read why no councillors walked the walk
TWiSK presents an eyewitness report on the community walk for a safe St Kilda. Despite the hot weather, the walk attracted over 200 people and felt more like a plea for help than a protest march. Yet no local councillors or ALP politicians attended. Why was that? [Read more]
Recent events make it abundantly clear that much remains to be done about community safety.
As reported last week, the quietly restored statue of Captain Cook enjoyed a 24/7 guard and CCTV courtesy of the Council at a cost of at least $15,000. [Read more]
Meanwhile the Ngargee Tree at St Kilda Junction, a significant indigenous site, remains off-limits because of a rough sleeper camp, now in its eighth week, due to a clueless response from authorities. [Read more]
On Sunday, the famed Pride March will travel down beleaguered Fitzroy Street without the inclusion of LGBTIQA+ police in uniform.
There is also growing community unease with the rise of local antisemitism and a lack of progress in apprehending those responsible for the Adass Israel Synagogue arson attack.
All this while the Council convenes a round table on community safety—it is clear that there is much to discuss and even more to do.

Locals’ Friday lost in Festival line up
Despite claiming that the Festival is back better than ever, the Council has dropped the St Kilda Live Music Precinct Program that was part of the last years program. Apparently, St. Valentine's Day took precedence over a Friday program of local music. [Read more]
